David Selfe

David Selfe

David W Selfe is currently studying for a PhD in Pragmaphilology (and apologises that there really isn’t a better word for it) at the University of Glasgow, having previously completed his MSc in English Language and Linguistics there (and deciding that since the university is in walking distance, he might as well make a career out of it).

His thesis follows texts through time, exploring how linguistic changes made in the course of their transmission provide evidence for the sociocultural landscape in which they were received.

He loves long walks (provided they culminate in gin and ice-cream), Romanticist literature (Blake, Burns, Byron, Burke and Barbauld), Victorian poetry (Porphyria’s Lover – read it), cartoons (Adventure Time and Stephen Universe) and video games, his favourites being Dragon Age (2 for story, 3 for characters), The Last of Us, and Ori and the Blind Forest (which ruined him).

You can find David on Twitter.
